Bringing learning to life with Schools Tree Day
Schools Tree Day is back for 2026, and we are inviting students across Tasmania
to get outside, get involved and connect with the environment through
hands-on learning.
Each year, Sustainable Timber Tasmania and the Forest Education Foundation
work with schools across the state to celebrate National Tree Day by planting
seedlings and learning about Tasmania’s forests.
Last year, more than 2,000 students from over 60 Tasmanian schools planted
more than 3,500 seedlings — and we’d love even more schools to join in this year!
Receive free seedlings from our Perth nursery
Your school can access a variety
of native trees and shrubs grown
at Sustainable Timber Tasmania’s
Perth Nursery for students to plant and care for.
Host a planting event with STT foresters
Sustainable Timber Tasmania foresters can visit participating schools between 27 July and 7 August 2026 to help students plant seedlings and learn more about Tasmania’s forests.
Participate in a council planting event
This year, councils in the southern region have nominated planting days for schools to collaborate with. When registering for Schools Tree Day, please indicate if your school is interested in participating in this opportunity.
If you have any questions about how your school can be part of Schools Tree Day, please contact Sustainable Timber Tasmania’s stakeholder engagement team at stakeholder@sttas.com.au.
