Schools Tree Day 2025 round up
Throughout July and August, nearly 1,000 students and teachers across the state rolled up their sleeves to 3,000 plant gifted native seedlings, with some schools holding outdoor planting events with Sustainable Timber Tasmania foresters — digging holes, planting seedlings, while having fun and learning
Bothwell District School
Erika Boas, Principal of Bothwell District High School welcomed the collaboration between Sustainable Timber Tasmania and the Forest Education Foundation. Now in its second year, she says this has become an opportunity for her students and staff to collaborate and learn about career paths into forestry.
“The planting day brings our school community together in the best possible way. Students, staff and foresters all have a hand in creating something lasting and learn so much along the way.”
“Our extensive partnership with Sustainable Timber Tasmania and the Forest Education Foundation means our students have a full seed to tree experience, that starts in the Perth Nursery and extends to the Tasmania’s forests.”

Nola Lenthall, Assistant Principal at Rosetta Primary School, welcomed Sustainable Timber Tasmania back to the school for another Schools Tree Day.
“It was beautiful to see students working side by side — helping each other dig, plant, and learn about the new seedlings and the native species that are growing on the school grounds.”

Maree Duggan, Acting Principal, at Evandale Primary School said, “Schools Tree Day is a wonderful opportunity for our students to connect their classroom learning with the world around them.”
“By planting trees and exploring biodiversity in our living classrooms, they see first-hand how small actions can have a big impact.”
“It’s these experiences that nurture curiosity, responsibility, and a lifelong commitment to caring for our environment.”
