Butlers Gorge Road (Hydro Tasmania)
On behalf of Hydro Tasmania, and in the interest of public safety, please be advised that Butlers Gorge Road (just off Lyell Highway turnoff) will continue to be temporarily close to all traffic from Monday 26 June 2023.
Access will be restricted for approximately six weeks, subject to unforeseen delays.
This temporary closure is expected to only impact weekdays (7am-5pm), with access allowed across Saturdays and Sundays.
Please note that the lookout and boat ramp are accessible to the public outside of these closure times, and also on Saturdays and Sundays.
For further information please contact Hydro Tasmania at contactus@hydro.com.au.
West Picton Road
In the interest of public safety, West Picton Road is closed (just prior to Cooks Creek) to all vehicular traffic due to the deterioration of several structures along the road.
The Eastern Arthur Range Traverse (Farmhouse Creek Track) will remain open to bushwalkers with the development of a vehicle turn around and car parking bay at the junction of the West Picton Road closure location (just prior to Cooks Creek) provided by Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service and Sustainable Timber Tasmania.
The Eastern Arthur Range Traverse (The Farmhouse Creek Track) will require (approximately) an extra 6.3km (one way) walk along West Picton Road from its closure.
Back Gully Ridge Road
Back Gully Ridge Road is closed from where it meets Mt Albert Road to the entrance for the Evercreech White Gum Reserve. It’s closed because of damage to a bridge. We don’t know when we will be able to reopen this road. You can get to the White Gum Reserve from the Mathinna/Evercreech.
Memory Road
Memory Road (between Gunns Road and Upper Esk Road) is closed because a section of road has been washed away and fallen trees are blocking it. You can instead go from Upper Esk Road onto Telopea Road and then through to Gunns Road.
