A Forest Activity Permit helps Sustainable Timber Tasmania manage forest use safely and responsibly.

It ensures we are aware of all activities taking place in our production forests, so we can coordinate and maintain access, safety, and environmental values.

Do you need a Forest Activity Permit?

You are likely to need a permit if your activity takes place on Permanent Timber Production Zone land and includes any of the following:

  • Wedding
  • Events
  • Field day
  • Research project
  • Commercial filming
  • Car rally
  • Orienteering 
  • Trail running 
  • Mountain biking

We will assess your application based on:

  • Environmental and operational impact
  • Safety and risk considerations
  • Forest access and concurrent use
  • Any existing forest operations
